This fabric features Kaudi buta and delicate mini butis created using the Bomkai extra warp technique, entirely woven by hand. Unlike dobby-based surface effects, these motifs are crafted using the traditional jala system, a more intricate and heritage weaving method.
Woven in very fine mercerized 120/120 count, the fabric offers a smooth, elegant fall with crisp butti definition.
While butti weaving is seen across many handloom centres in India, Sambalpur has its own distinct interpretation — where motifs can range from very small, subtle buttis to large, elaborate jala patterns.
